Greywater Characteristics and Potential Use for Toilet Flushing in Aqaba City

Abstract: Knowing greywater characteristics is essential to evaluate the potential for reuse and to determine the appropriate treatment system. This research was carried out to estimate the quantity and analyze the quality of greywater generated in the urban city of Aqaba. The results revealed, that an average of 107 Lpcd was generated which is the largest recorded so far in Jordan comparing to other urban cities. Greywater compromises 53% of total fresh water consumption and 75% of total households’ wastewater.
